Founded in 2013, Metanormal’s maiden feature film "Kothanodi", was the first Assamese language film globally licensed by Netflix. Company’s second production "Aamis", had its World Premiere at 2019 Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Both films are currently available worldwide on the major Indian OTT platform, SonyLiv.

Metanormal's latest feature, "Emuthi Puthi" is the first first feature from North-East India to be shot completely on iPhone and was released theatrically across its regional market in June, 2022. The film is now streaming in North America (Prime Video), UK (Channel 4) and Australia (SBS).

Current projects include the Hindi language fiction features "Second Chance", set to premiere in 2024 and directed by debutant filmmaker Subhadra Mahajan; and Bhaskar Hazarika’s new works "Keet" (HAF Hong Kong IDP Project Forum 2022) and "Paaltu" (BIFAN It Project Market 2023).
